Walk to Care is a 4km walk, giving Victorians an opportunity to show their support and raise funds for family carers. Walk to Care 2012 is being held at Coulson Gardens in Maribyrnong, VIC and the day is a major fundraising and awareness event for Carers Victoria, the peak body representing and supporting family carers in Victoria.

One in eight Victorians is a carer for someone with a disability, chronic or mental illness, or who is frail aged.

It’s time Victorians came together to show that we value family carers… and it starts with one step. Join us as we Walk to Care at Coulson Gardens on 18 November 2012

Walk to Care is a non-competitive 4km charity walk along the banks of the Maribyrnong river. The walk is a highly effective way to highlight the challenge of supporting the carers’ community, and encourage understanding and awareness of the services Carers Victoria provides.

Walk to Care – Maribyrnong River Walk Event Details

Entry Details

Registrations open at 8.30 am.

The walk begins at 11 am sharp, with activities, entertainment and food at the conclusion of the walk. The event concludes at approximately 2.30pm.

All walkers will take off together. It will take approximately 1 hour to complete the 4km course at a leisurely pace.

4km non-competitive walk – Entry Fees
Adults: $30
Concession: $20
Child: $10
Family (2 adults, unlimited children): $60
Virtual Walker: $20
Carers Support Group (max. 10 people): $100.00
Dogs: $5

All online registrations and pre-registrations for Walk in the Park close at 7pm Saturday 17 November, 2012.

On-the-day registration opens at 8.30am at the registration tent in Coulson Gardens.

CARERS VICTORIA

Carers provide care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail aged.

They work closely with government and other support organisations to improve the lives of caring families throughout Victoria.

We are hoping to have a number of our clients and some of our Maribyrnong personal trainers take part in the 4km walk and help support Carers Victoria. Make sure to keep an eye out for Russell Laurie and David Atkinson who are two of the best local personal trainers in Maribyrnong and will showing their support and participating on the day, so if you do see us come up and say hello.

Maribyrnong River Run (Saturday March 17th, 2012)

Last year’s twilight River Run was such at success down at the Maribrynong River that this year it is on again giving everyone the opportunity to farewell Summer by running or walking along the iconic Maribyrnong River as the sun goes down.

This years event will be longer than last years with a 5km run/walk starting at 5:30pm, followed by an 10km run/walk starting at 5:50pm. The course will start from Coulson Gardens, and will head north along the Maribrynong River through the new Afton Street Conservation Park Wetland, and return back along the other side of the river.

Come and run the Marby River!!!

Saturday 17th March is St Patrick’s Day, so instead of heading down to the Anglers Tavern by the river for a beer, why not celebrate with family and friends in the GREEN surrounds of Coulson Gardens. There is a playground in Coulson Park for the kids and plenty of barbeque and seating areas to kick back, watch the sun set and enjoy an evening picnic after the race.

There is no official charity or fun raising in place for this event, but the 2012 Victorian University River Run, encourages participants to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Adults: EARLY- $33 LATE – $38 ON DAY – $41
Children U/15: EARLY- $19 LATE – $22 ON DAY – $25
Concession (Full-time student or health care card holder): EARLY- $28 LATE – $33 ON DAY – $36

On-line entries are now OPEN!

On the day entries will be open from 4:00pm on the day. Please arrive early to ensure you have enough time to register and, if needed, drop your clothes off at the the clothing storage area before the event starts.

– No refunds. No dogs/bikes/rollerblades.
– Early entries close at 5:00pm on Friday, 2 March 2012.
– Online entries close at 9:00am on Friday, 16 March 2012.
– Manual entries incur an additional $3 per person administration fee.

Please note: your race number will not be sent to you. Please collect your race number on the evening of the event from the Number Pick-up marquee.

The start line is located on Chifley Drive, about 50 metres from Coulson Gardens.
Finish line
The finish line is also located on Chifley Drive, adjacent to Coulson Gardens.
