2013 Sunset Series, Presented by Brooks

If you’re looking for a fun way to gauge and increase your fitness level in 2013, while fundraising for a great cause, enter the Sunset Series, presented by Brooks, and strive to smash your personal best!

This year FebFast are the official charity of the Sunset Series, so take a break from alcohol for 28 days and help raise money that goes to programs which help the most vulnerable young people and families who are tackling serious alcohol and drug issues.

Race 1 is on Wednesday, 6 February at The Tan Track, and the Sunset Series offers a 4km or 8km run/walk and the opportunity to measure your progress and get better with each race spread out over the month. Race 2 will be taking place on Wednesday, 20 February at Melbourne Zoo, and Race 3 will be held on Wednesday, 6 march at Princes Park.

With three unique running locations, including the Melbourne Zoo this year, there is something new to experience at each event! Enter the 3-Race Series today to help you keep your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions on track.

Race 1 – The Tan, Kings Domain – Wednesday 6 February, 2013

Race Start Times:
6:50pm: 4km run
7:15pm: 8km run
7:20pm: 4km and 8km walk

Where:
The assembly area is located at Kings Domain, Botanical Gardens on Alexandra Avenue (Melway Ref: 2G 9A) and the start and finish line is at the assembly area.

Anderson Street Hill Dash Competition

Anyone that has ever run the Tan Track before will know of the dreaded Anderson Street Hill! Located along Anderson Street, a third of the way along the course at Race 1, the hill gives you an added challenge to push through in your run.

This year, all participants in Race 1 will be timed how long it takes to get to the top of Anderson Street Hill. The fastest male in the 8km and the 4km will take home a pair of Brooks Vapor Running Shoes and the fastest female in both distances will get a $100 moving comfort voucher!

Participants must complete the race to win the hill dash.

Race 2 – Melbourne Zoo, Royal Park – Wednesday 20 February, 2013

Race Start Times:
6:50pm: 4km run
7:15pm: 8km run
7:20pm: 4km and 8km walk

Where:
The assembly area is located at Brens Oval (right next to the main entrance to the Zoo) in Royal Park on Elliott Avenue (Melway Ref: 29 12F) and the start and finish line is at the assembly area.

Race 3 – Princes Park, Carlton – Wednesday 6 March, 2013

Race Start Times:

The assembly area is located at VISY Park (Princes Park), on Garton Street (Melway Ref: 29 H12) and the start and finish line is at the assembly area.

How to Enter:

Early bird entries close at 5pm Wednesday, one week prior to the event.

Early Bird Closes – Race 1: Wednesday, 23 January
Early Bird Closes – Race 2: Wednesday, 13 February
Early Bird Closes – Race 3: Wednesday, 27 February

Online entries close 12 noon Tuesday prior the event.

There is also on-day registration available at the assembly area of each event starting at 5:30pm.

What do I get for my entry fee?

– The first 1200 series entrants will receive a free Brooks running tee
– Accurate electronic timing from the Start to Finish Events Ipico timing system

For those who have entered the entire 2013 Sunset Series CONGRATULATIONS from the team at MaxNRG Personal Training, best of luck with tracking and seeing your improvement across the 3 events.

This year we have a few of our MaxNRG clients who competed in last years events as well as some first timers who will be completing all 3 races in the series. We will also have some of our MaxNRG trainers competing so please come up and say hello before or after the race if you see us.
